NYU/Georgetown Events in AprilNYU Investment Law Forum to discuss contract claims and umbrella clauses The next in an ongoing series of public seminars at New York University Law School will examine the perennially fractious debate over the operation of so-called umbrella clauses – and the extent to which treaty provisions which require a state to observe all obligations with respect to investments (or some other formulation) will mean that breaches of contract may be elevated to breaches of an investment treaty. The event will take place on Monday April 19th. Speakers will include the Secretary-General of ICSID, lawyers in commercial, governmental and non-profit practice, as well as the Editor of IAReporter. The program is jointly sponsored by the American Branch of the International Law Association, the American Society of International Law, Georgetown University Law Center and the International Dispute Resolution Committee of the International Law Section of the DC Bar The event will take place at the Georgetown University Law Center, 600 New Jersey Avenue NW, Washington (in the Gewirtz Student Center, 12th Floor, 120 F Street, NW, Washington, DC).
